Market introduction:

Georgia is located in the central and western south Caucasus, bounded by Russia in the north, Azerbaijan in the southeast, Armenia in the south, Turkey in the southwest, and the black sea in the west. Georgia is an important transit country because of its geographical location, which borders the Caucasus and central Asia at the gateway to Europe. At present, 80% of its port goods and 60% of its rail traffic are re-exports. Georgia, which has a good deep-water port on the western black sea, is building a railway link between Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, Azerbaijan and Turkey, linking the Caucasus network to the European network. In terms of ports, Georgia has two seaports, Boji and Batumi, and two pipeline oil terminal ports, Kulevi and Supatha.

In 2018, Georgia's GDP was us $17.6 billion, up 5% year on year. In the whole year of 2018, Georgia imported us $834 million from China, up 13.7% year on year. According to the national bureau of statistics of Georgia, the bilateral trade volume between China and Georgia was 163 million us dollars in the first two months of 2019, up 28.2 percent year on year, and Georgia's imports from China were 142 million us dollars, up 25.9 percent year on year. China is Georgia's fourth largest trading partner, accounting for 9.4% of Georgia's total foreign trade. China is Georgia's second largest source of imports, accounting for 11.5% of Georgia's total imports. In recent years, Georgia has also discovered rich reserves of oil and gas in the west, east and black sea regions.

The agreement to establish a deep and comprehensive free trade area (DCFTA) between Georgia and the European Union came into force on 1 September 2014. Products made in Georgia can enter the EU market without customs duties, and the free trade agreement between the government of the People's Republic of China and the government of Georgia entered into force and came into force on January 1, 2018. Agreement comes into force, in terms of trade in goods, Georgia to 96.5% of the products in our country immediately implement zero tariff, covering 99.6% of the total amount of imports from China, the remaining products will be gradually reduced to zero tariff over five years, which means that Chinese products can through Georgia tariff-free access to the EU market, in the both sides will take effect with the agreement as an opportunity to comprehensively enhance the level of practical cooperation between the two countries, which made solid progress "in" construction, achieve common prosperity.
